The following letter was sent out on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 by email on behalf of SD60 Assistant Superintendent Stephen Petrucci:

Dear Parents,

This email is to inform you of an upcoming transfer for your child or children to our new K-6 school, Margaret Ma Murray Community School, for this September. Our student information system lists your email address as a contact for a child with an address which is in the new catchment for Margaret Ma Murray Community School. If you believe you have received this in error, please communicate with your current school administrator.

You can also check the “school locator” feature on our website at http://www.prn.bc.ca/?page_id=2247 . When using the school locator type in your street number (eg 11012), then the first three characters of your street name (eg 105) and select from the dropdown list of possible street names.

A newsletter will be coming out in the coming weeks with more information about our new school. Information about the new school is being posted as it is available at http://murray.prn.bc.ca .

Progress!

Teacher job postings are now available on http://www.prn.bc.ca/recruit/postings/ – closing soon! After closing, interviews will be schedule and hiring to follow.

Construction continues. Much of the interior is starting to take shape. The east wing is getting flooring and drywall continues on the lower floor of the west wing. The elevator is just about installed! We are hoping to see the snow gone as soon as possible so paving can get underway.

District staff are working with school Principals around students lists for the beginning 2018-2019 Margaret Ma Murray cohort of students. Communications will follow in the coming months in a variety of formats (mail, email, letters sent home). Stay tuned!

Catchment Locator Updated

Our online school catchment locator has been updated. It is available at http://www.prn.bc.ca/?page_id=2247

When entering your address, start with your Street Address in the first box (eg 11504), click in the Street Name, City field and start entering your street name. Before typing it in completely, click on the correct one in the list.

Catchment Selected

At the January 29th board meeting the Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed catchment area option C for the new Margaret Ma Murray Community school. This option will see the end of the English program at Ecole Central Elementary School of the Fine Arts. Depending on where they live within the former catchment, English program students will have options to attend the new school, Duncan Cran Elementary or Robert Ogilvie Elementary School.

District staff will be working through the details of the catchment decision and will post further information including school locator tools, as it becomes available.

We’ve created a new page for information updates at http://murray.prn.bc.ca/2018-2019-updates/. As we get word on catchment area, etc. we will post it there. We’ve created a separate page for registration info for new students in the 2018-2019 year to School District 60 (e.g. Kindergarten) at http://murray.prn.bc.ca/registration/. Neither page has any further information as of December 7, 2017 but please bookmark them and stay tuned!
